Lightning Conductors as a Fashion Statement

Following the work of Benjamin Franklin on the development of the lighting conductor, it became commonplace to fit them to almost everything. The above picture is a fashion plate from Paris in the 1850s. My only comment is that it must have been incredibly dangerous.
